“My experience with LEAD has been wonderfully unique. I get to experience the Self Advocacy and Peer Mentoring program as a Program Assistant, and as a parent of a participant. Being involved as an assistant has been especially rewarding. I have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students who have reminded me why I initially became an educator. We use fun and interactive lessons to teach the students and give them problem solving skills. I’ve enjoyed watching the students come out of their shells as they’ve grown through the program.

As a parent it’s been so rewarding to watch my son have the opportunity to be involved with other kids his age, outside of school, in a safe and welcoming environment. He’s enjoyed spending time with, and making new friends. He’s also excited for each session, wondering what fun activities we’re doing next! We both love that each session has been structured the same, so we know what to expect for our schedule, but the activities are varied. We’re always excited to see what’s next!”
